Undergraduate News & Events

We are pleased to extend an invitation to you to serve as a corporate sponsor in our “CEO Academy” for the 2009 – 10 academic year.  This collaborative effort between your company and the Clark Atlanta University School of Business Administration will provide you with direct access to an endless stream of talented and capable first year business students.  Moreover, this alliance will enhance your on-campus visibility, intensify your brand profile, and streamline your recruiting activities.

The corporate team adoption ceremony is a unique feature of the CEO Academy.  During the first semester, student teams (composed of freshmen and transfer students), are “adopted” by Fortune 500 firms who serve as their “parent” company.  This joint initiative involves continuous, active communication and exchange between the student team and corporate representatives.  The company sponsors training sessions and active learning programs which assist students in developing vital skill sets and critical thinking that are essential for professional development.  These teams are exposed to the culture, business, and industry dynamics of the parent company through research, case studies, and site visits.  Since each team will continue to work with their sponsor until graduation, after four years team members will be molded into highly skilled, well trained, potential employees. We encourage you to take full advantage of this unique opportunity.

Mark your calendar.  On Tuesday, October 20th (10:30 a.m. and 12 noon) and Thursday, October 22th, 2009 at 12 noon (three separate cohorts; select one day and time), the CEO Academy will conduct its annual corporate adoption ceremony.  Will you join us?  To ensure the success of this program and continually replenish corporate America’s minority candidate pool, we desperately need corporate stakeholders, such as yourself, to share invaluable counsel and to drive this strategic alliance

In addition to the strategic alliances created through the CEO Academy, the undergraduate program has established a significant corporate partnership with MetLife.  In the past three years, 30 undergraduate students have completed internships with MetLife Investors in either Hartford, CT or Irvine, CA.  In these rotational internships, the students are exposed to multiple business units (Marketing, Finance, International Operations and Underwriting) that support the sale of life insurance and annuity products.  As a by-product of the internship, MetLife remains committed to full-time employment of our students upon graduation.  MetLife also sponsored the production of School of Business polo shirts and have provided funding for academic scholarships.

On October 15, 2009, the Undergraduate Student Business Council sponsored the annual Fall Mixer.  This is an opportunity for the students, faculty and staff to spend some FUN time together!  Each of the School of Business student organizations was present to provide an overview of their organization and recruit new members.  Lunch was provided and the event was well attended by students, faculty and staff.  The next mixer will be held in the spring in preparation for the end of the semester and in celebration of the graduates!
